(PHOENIX, AZ) - DCM Loudspeakers, a leading manufacturer of unique, performance-packed home audio products, announced today that it is shipping four new loudspeaker products including two tower speakers, one center channel speaker, and one cabinet speaker. All models are video shielded and timber matched for home theater applications
The new DCM16 and DCM26 tower loudspeakers are available in single and dual woofer models, and are finished in a handsome black ash.
Each tower cabinet is constructed of sturdy 5/8" MDF with an
internal shelf-bracing system, which reduces standing waves and
deadens vibrations, thus improving overall bass performance and
vocal clarity. The DCM16 and DCM26 each contain a 1" Ferro fluid-
cooled tweeter with 25mm cloth dome and 1" voice coil that provides
a lower crossover point and also improves vocal clarity. Both towers
employ a flared 3" port, further extending low frequency response
and virtually eliminating port turbulence.
Both towers are tall and slender, a dramatic departure in styling
from boxes for which DCM has been previously known. At 30 ¼" tall
and just 8" wide, the DCM16 tower speaker contains one 6 ½" woofer
with a light-weight glass fiber cone, which equals improved
transient response and extends high frequencies of the woofer. The
woofer also contains a butyl rubber surround, which acts as a built-
in damping system for controlled high frequency response.
The svelte 37¼"x 8" DCM26 tower speaker includes all the best of the
DCM16, plus an additional 6 ½" woofer.
The DCM16C center channel speaker includes a 6 ½" woofer made up of
a glass fiber cone and butyl rubber surround. Tuning is accomplished
by a passive radiator, which, at first glance, looks like a second
woofer on the face of the cabinet. The passive radiator provides
extended low frequency performance not commonly found in center
channel speakers.
Rounding out the family is the DCM16S, a bookshelf cabinet speaker
that contains the same 6 ½" woofer present in the others in a
compact package. At just 13"x8"x7½" it is as unobtrusive as it is
powerful (100 watts RMS power handling).
